Despite the continuing hostilities in Iraq and Afghanistan and the ever increasing threat from global terrorism, it may surprise you to learn that it is still possible to obtain life insurance and critical illness insurance for military personnel which includes cover for war and terrorism without a premium loading.

Those insurance companies that still offer comprehensive protection for HM Forces cover will usually ask you to complete an Armed Forces Questonnaire at the time of your application. Although they will be keen to establish whether your job is high risk (eg Special Forces, Bomb Disposal etc), they will also ask you to confirm that you are not ‘under orders’ or on ‘standby’ to proceed to any area of conflict. If this is the case, it should be possible to arrange you comprehensive cover which will include War cover should you be deployed after the policy has started.
